Biography

Anne LAM (Organ) is Director of Music and Organist at Chung Chi College Chapel, The Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK). She has been teaching organ performance for the Music Department of CUHK, as well as the Pipe Organ Education Series at Hong Kong Cultural Centre since 2013. Her solo performances have been broadcast on Radio Television Hong Kong Radio 4, Metro Radio Hong Kong and American Public Radio’s program “Pipedreams” in the United States. Anne won Second Prize in the 6th Miami International Organ Competition and was named semi-finalist in the National Young Artists Competition in Organ (NYACOP) in 2012.

Anne has performed in many concert halls & cathedrals across the world, including Belgium, China, Canada, England, France, Hong Kong, Japan, Macau, the Netherlands, New Zealand and the United States. In recent years, she has recorded three CD recordings with choristers in Macao and performed organ concerti with baroque ensemble in Japan. She has appeared as soloist with Cincinnati Symphony Orchestra in the 45th Hong Kong Arts Festival. She has also given a solo recital showcasing original organ compositions by local composers in the 47th Hong Kong Arts Festival Plus. In frequent demand as a continuo player, orchestral player and collaborative artist in Hong Kong, she performs regularly with The Hong Kong Philharmonic Orchestra, The Hong Kong Bach Choir, Hong Kong SingFest, CU Chorus, Le French May and among others. She has also collaborated with choirs from England, Germany and New Zealand.

Anne served as the Founding Dean of Hong Kong Chapter, The American Guild of Organists (AGO) from 2014 to 2016. An avid board member of the chapter, she has been teaching for the chapter's organ academies since 2017, and was the Convener of the competition committee of “2021 Young Organist Competition”. As an organ pedagogue, her students have won top prizes in competitions and hold important positions in churches in the U.K. & the United States.

Anne studied with Dr. Chiu Siu Ling & Ms. Wong Kin Yu at CUHK. She was awarded a prestigious full-tuition scholarship from the Hong Kong Jockey Club Music and Dance Fund for her graduate studies at the Eastman School of Music, New York where she gained a Sacred Music Diploma, Master of Music and Doctor of Musical Arts degrees in Organ Performance and Literature. At Eastman, she studied with Professor David Higgs and was a teaching assistant for the Organ and Historical Keyboards Department. She served as Director of Music and Organist for Episcopal churches and Catholic parishes when she resided in upstate New York.

When away from music, Anne can be found reading, baking, or wandering in the woods with her super intelligent border collie labrador mix.

林芍彬 (管風琴) 現為香港中文大學崇基學院禮拜堂音樂統籌及風琴師,二零一三年起兼任該大學音樂系管風琴導師及香港文化中心管風琴教育系列導師。她的獨奏演出曾在香港電台第四台、新城電台、及美國全國公共廣播電台中被播放。二零一二年,她獲第六屆邁阿密國際管風琴大賽亞軍,又晉身全美青年藝術家管風琴比賽半總決賽。

林氏曾於世界各地演奏,包括比利時、中國、加拿大、英國、法國、香港、日本、澳門、荷蘭、紐西蘭及美國。近年與澳門女聲合唱團灌錄了三張唱片錄音、與日本古樂團演出巴羅克協奏曲、於第45屆香港藝術節與辛辛那提交響樂團作獨奏演出、又於第47屆香港藝術節加料節目中演奏本地作曲家的原創管風琴作品。她經常獲邀以樂團特約樂手或合唱團伴奏身份與本港多個藝術團體演出,包括香港管弦樂團、香港巴赫合唱團、香港聲蜚合唱節、香港中文大學合唱團及法國五月藝術節等等。


林氏二零一四年至一六年出任美國管風琴家協會香港分會的創會會長,並統籌「2021青年管風琴家大賽」,是香港近二十年來首次為本地青年管風琴手舉辦的大型比賽。
 

林氏畢業於香港中文大學音樂系,師承趙小玲博士及黃健羭女士。她獲頒香港賽馬會音樂及舞蹈信託基金全額獎學金前往紐約伊士曼音樂學院深造,取得聖樂文憑、管風琴演奏碩士及博士學位。在伊士曼音樂學院攻讀其間授教於大衛 • 希格斯教授,並是管風琴及古鍵盤樂器學系助教。她曾在紐約上州的聖公會教堂及天主教堂區擔任音樂總監及風琴師。
